I saw Angela McCluskey play last night at the Electric Room during a party for Flatt Magazine. She performed so beautifully I actually cried. Right there on the couch, in-between girls preening, men attempting to prove their coolness, and the whole mess that comes along in a crowded club at a certain hour when there is an open bar, I couldn’t help but shed a tear.
I checked out the new Nicholas Kirkwood store in NYC’s meatpacking and can’t stop thinking about these shoes. Fantasy wish list.

Nothing will ever be as good as Sleepyhead, but I’ll take it.

I want to dream within this song.
Agreed:
Eternal Summers - “Millions”
RIYL: Dum Dum Girls, Best Coast, Ume, Beach Fossils
I love when this happens. Eternal Summers’ debut album, Silver, was a decent lo-fi pop record - good for driving around in the summer but definitely not anything worth analyzing. For their upcoming second album, Correct Behavior, they’ve cleaned up the fuzz and incorporated some post-punk elements into their sound. The first song they’ve released from this album, “Millions”, shows how much they’ve grown in the past two years. After hearing the disappointment that is Best Coast’s The Only Place, I’m gonna put my faith in Correct Behavior as my feel-good summer pop album.

Occupy May Day: Pictures from the Williamsburg Bridge.
On a rainy May Day morning, at least 200 people marched from Brooklyn to Manhattan across the Williamsburg Bridge, and were met by around 100 police in varying degrees of riot uniform. The crowd was mostly local and largely peaceful. There were four arrests recorded. Police confiscated a shopping cart filled with riots shields fashioned from traffic barriers. Nearly every MTA train that passed the protest honked loudly in support.
I really want to throw a party at Jeffrey Deitch’s house. NYT has a great slideshow of his LA manse. That pic is of his couch!
